Grand Christmas Bows

The Grand Bows from The Ton are a super fun stamp set I got a long time ago, having a birthday card in mind. Then we went on a holiday for three weeks, so I forgot about them and never got around to trying them out until now. I came to think of these stamps again when I saw this challenge inspiration picture at the Heart Desires blog.

One uses whatever one has got, as we say in Scandinavia. I didn't have ink to match the exact colours in the inspiration picture, but after lots of experimenting I found some that were close enough. I don't own that many ink pads, so I used Color Box pigment ink, MFT dye ink and Distress Ink.

The bows were stamped on white cardstock from Neenah.

Glitter cardstock from DCWV makes a nice frame for the cards.
The cards are made from Simon Says Stamp cardstock.

One More Nativity Card

Here's another nativity themed card.

I thought the nativity scene would look nice as a Christmas ornament, besides the earth and a fitting sentiment.

The round ornaments were made with a home made stencil, I drew around a tape roll and cut out a circle from masking paper.

I stamped, embossed and painted the ornaments.

The long branch above was made by stamping a small branch several times over.

The ornaments behind were stamped using masking paper and cut out with a scalpel, to make the glitter cardstock show through.

Glitter Town Border

I was inspired by the Cas-ual Fridays challenge called Glitter and Snowflakes when I made this Christmas card.

I used this lovely glitter cardstock I purchased recently, which makes a nice contrast to the white snow and the blue sky. The little houses are really cute!

The card was fairly painless to make, as it mostly consists of die cut parts glued together with tape. It's the kind of card one can easily make plenty of in one go.

I started by stamping the snowflakes on watercolour paper and embossing them with white powder. Then I blended Distress Ink over the piece.

The sentiment was stamped in Versamark ink and embossed with silver powder.

I die cut the houses from red glitter, white and steel grey cardstock, then removed the white houses and adhered the red piece behind the white one.

The front piece was adhered to the card with foam tape to add a little dimension.

In the end I cut out roofs for the houses from steel gray card stock and adhered them with liquid glue.

Nativity Card

I really like the nativity theme for Christmas cards. They are different from the funny Santa Claus style cards, more serious and traditional, in a way.

There are so many lovely nativity cards around. I recently bought two border dies and decided to use them both in one card. I used mostly foiled cardstock, to make a shiny card. For this reason it turned out to be quite tricky to show the card properly in a photo.

The different layers were die cut and put together with liquid glue. The silver scene was adhered with foam tape, to create dimension. It was a bit fiddly to put tiny pieces of foam tape behind the details of the scene, but the result looks better for it.

I removed the baby Jesus part from the background piece, as the one in front plays the main part.

Finally I stamped the sentiment in Versamark ink and heat embossed with silver powder. Then I cut the sentiment part into a fishtail and adhered it to the card with foam tape.
